Robert Laurel McSparin of Eldorado, age 88, went home to be with the Lord
August 13, 2024, at Deaconess Medical Center in Marion, Illinois with family by
his side.
He was born June 23, 1936, in Stonefort, Illinois to Edwin Laurel and Asel
(Sellers) McSparin. He was married to Marita (Dutton) McSparin on July 2, 1955,
until her death March 13, 2011. He then married Gail Whipple-McSparin on April
14, 2012.
He and Marita had four children together: Joseph (Gloria) McSparin of Texas;
Deanna (Jesse) Smith of Ohio, Marguerita (Tom) Pearce of Eldorado; and Kathleen
(David) Volkening of Eldorado. He also shared a caring relationship with Gail's
children: Beth Ashby, Bruce Whipple and the late Brad Whipple of Harrisburg.
In addition to his children, he leaves behind wife, Gail Whipple-McSparin of
Eldorado, brother; Tom (Mary) McSparin and sister, Rebecca McSparin of
Eldorado. Grandchildren: Joseph's children: Joseph, Timothy, Nathan, Michael,
Johnny McSparin of Texas. Deanna's children: Aimee
